Abacus is the secondary protagonist of Lloyd of the Flies, and the titular character's best and only friend.
Biography[]
Abacus was the second youngest born in a family of Woodlice, living with his mum and siblings in a crack in the wall boarder next to the big bin in the kitchen. He was born after his brothers and sister, Avenue, Atrophy, Anode and Addendum. Sometime after his younger sister was born, Abacus's dad moved away to a crack in the wall above the bathroom toilet roof to continue his carpeting and mechanical business alone with more space. Ampersand, Aperture, given life to by Aperture and Ampersand, a disabled carpenter and her mechanic husband. Due to appearing very rarely in the series, not much is known about Abacus's family. He is also revealed to have cousins in one episode.
At the end of the series, it is told by Abacus himself that he and Lloyd became friends accidentally, and that Lloyd probably bumped into him on his first flight.
Appearance[]
Abacus is an indigo blue-toned roly poly. His body is segmented into 6 ridges, with a pair of 3-fingered arms for each one. His shell is a much deeper shade of indigo blue than the rest of him.
Trivia[]
- Abacus and his family are the only roly poly characters ever seen in the show.
- Before the show entered production, he and Lloyd were shown in the banner for LOTF's announcement article with a subtly, but noticeably different appearance. The first model for Abacus had only 5 sets of arms and body fragments as opposed to 6, and his skin was much more blueish In tone.
