Aard Man as seen in Aard Man

Aard Man is a superhero character created by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, and the namesake of Aardman Animations[1]. He appeared in the BBC series Vision On, which was made for deaf children.

Biography[]

Despite having the appearance of a superhero, Aard Man is simply a normal man who does not do anything particularly spectacular or heroic. In the one readily-accessible short featuring the character, he simply stumbles across a hole, taps his foot on it to see if it is safe to walk, walks over the hole, and then falls into an invisible hole. Following this, he does what could be considered his heroic deed, moving the visible hole to match the invisible one.

Trivia[]

  • Aard Man was the first character ever made by the studio.
  • Aard Man makes a cameo as a drawing in one episode of The Epic Adventures of Morph.
  • According to one YouTube short, he was actually created in 1972, rather than 1966, as said in the top image.
